Jesus Dies on the Cross In this piece, the image of Jesus on the Cross is very subtle, and the cross emanates gold from its crux, thus hinting at the Resurrection within the Crucifixion itself. The method of "paper layering" was used for this piece, placing white paper and then more and more to build the image on canvas. Usually, the paper was painted before more was applied, using any paper from tissue paper to heavily embossed, and then using matte medium, molding paste, and pumice gel to build further. |
