Abstract layers of color convey the sense of Francis of Assisi's hymn of praise for God's creation (The Hymnal 1982, 406/407). The miter of iridescent yellow Thai silk alludes to "brother sun." In the cope the colors move from white toward the top, "sister moon," to black at the bottom for "death our sister."

Commissioned for the 1998 ordination of John Leslie Rabb as Bishop Suffragan of Maryland.
