This icon pictures Christ calling Peter and Andrew out of the waters of Gloucester, Massachusetts. The s\cene is a place that has become a prayer location for me. My icons are means to be intimate and devotional and I intend for them to be relevant to my daily life. My hope is that the viewer will be touched in that same place in his or her soul. I pray as I paint my icons and each detail of the icon is significant. The shells speak to me of listening to God. As I used to listen to the ocean in a conch shell I inted for that act of lstening to be conveyed in the border. Gloucester is a fishing town and an ethnic community. My prayer extends to this community as I paint.
