Ecclesiastes 9:11

acrylic paint and gesso, paper collage, ink

February, 2002

I came across this text shortly after Sept. 11, and it was a powerful connection to people in the past who have suffered incomprehensible tragedies. As much as we would like to think that living our lives well will bring us good fortune, we have always needed this sobering reminder that "all things come alike to all."

The technique used in this piece is a combination of paper collage and acrylic painting. A layer of acrylic gesso was added to provide a better surface for writing.

Ecclesiastes 9:11

Pintura acrilica y gesso, pape! enpastado, Tinta

Febrero, 2002
