The Hours
are perhaps the most spiritual of the
Episcopal rites and certainly the most
powerful in my life. The three
photographs in this exhibit visually
augment verses from the prayers of the
people of God. Trinity Rays: "From the
rising of the sun to its setting my Name
shall be great among the nations, and in
every place incense shall be offered to
my Name, and a pure offering." From the
scriptural passage, Order of Service for
Noonday.
Chuck Kirchner, a freelance photographer
as well as a transportation and
environmental consultant, has been
photographing places and people of
spirit (in all of its forms) for many
years. He is also active in St. Barnabas
Episcopal Church on Bainbridge Island,
Washington, serving as chair of the
Worship Commission, and as an acolyte,
lector and Eucharistic Minister.
