Shredded flesh
and crush of thorns
induce the scarlet flow.
And nothing now
can stop it.
Atonement for our weight
of sin, is not so lightly made.
He must descend
the darkest way,
be measured for a tomb.

The silent Christ hangs heavily.

In painful love
his eyelids close.
The Son of God
a long way
from his mother's womb.
