Barren but Full

Oil

Artist Statement: In this painting all the leaves are missing from the trees due to storms, winter, or so many events today that strip us down to our expose our true self before God. I named this barren but full because even though we may feel empty we are inwardly full of the Holy Spirit which still radiates in us. I think of the scripture John 15:4-5a, 8-9 "Jesus said, "Abide in me, as I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; abide in my love. A good scripture to meditate on when we receive the Eucharist

Bio: I have always been interested in art but didn't start painting until 1995 while living in Clayton, NC. I now work mostly in water soluble oils. For over 20 years I had the joy of painting with a group of ladies who encouraged and critiqued my work until aging for some no longer permitted us to paint together. What a gift they all were to me. I now live in Wilmington, NC and continue to pursue painting that I pray glorifies God.
