Communion with the Saints

Photograph

Artist Statement: This day members of our church living in a local retirement community gathered to celebrate holy communion. At the end of the Eucharist , I noticed a reflection of the communion table in the large mirror on the wall of the activities room. I recorded this image with my camera, and later replaced parts of the reflection with a cloud filled blue sky. This new image became for me a timeless window to God. It reminded me, when we celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion we are drawn into the timeless presence of God’s love for his children throughout the ages. We join in communion with the saints to remember the great gift of Jesus the Christ.
