Speaking on Tongues of Fire

As the story goes, the High Priest would enter the Holy of Holies, never to be seen again. So there developed a practice, where a rope would be tied to the leg of the High Priest, so that if he dies, the others could pull his body out without going in themselves.

I take away from this story that encounter with the unseen God involves risks, and it is wise to plan for the assistance of companions.

Who ties the rope around your leg? Creating entrance for encounter with the God of Abraham through sanctuary, museum, art or liturgy well that's what artists working at the intersection of art and faith have dedicated their lives to doing.
