Gracie Bell

Whenever I pray the Magificat, I often reflect on Mother Mary and her role in our faith. For without the strength and faith of Mother Mary, Christianity would not be possible. In my parish, Mother Mary is not often honored. She sits in the narthex and is easily missed by parishioner or visitor. Every Sunday, I bring flowers, no matter how small, to honor her, and I make larger arrangements for feast days and special celebrations. This particular arrangement was done for the institution of our Vicar. I specifically chose to use roses because Mother Mary is often regarded as the "queen of flowers." Roses symbolize her perfect love, and white roses represent her purity.

I am currently finishing my Master's Degree in child development at Auburn University. I have become involved in the Flower Guild where we strive to enhance every service with beautiful flowers. Flowers not only physically enhance the beauty of our nave, but
also remind us of the beauty and perfection of God's creation.
