Good Friday
by Vanessa Wells
Photography, 2007

The starkness of the shapes and the emotive colours represent the thorns and shed blood of Good Friday, creating waves of emotions difficult to articulate. It is a scene of simplicity because the significance of the crucifixion is so profound.

Vanessa Wells lives in Toronto, Canada where she attends St. Clement’s Anglican Church. She received her Master of Theological Studies degree this year and teaches sociology and religion at a private Christian school. This is the first year she has ventured into both colour and digital photography; her usual forum is black and white film with old cameras, often architectural in subject matter.
