On The Horizon

Painting

Artist Statement: From the Hymnal, Hymn 671 "Amazing Grace" verse 4: "Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come; ’tis grace that brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home." In this painting I see that I am drawn by God’s invitation to journey farther, the road has many twists and turns, and I cannot know where it will lead, or what I will discover. I have faith that grace will lead me home.

Bio: I began painting over thirty years ago. In that time, I have studied painting with several internationally and nationally acclaimed artists that have influenced my work including Beverly McIver, James Edward Sherbarth, Skip Lawrence, Alex Powers, and Judi Betts. I have been represented by several galleries in North Carolina and my work has been featured in group and solo shows in Eastern North Carolina. My work has been purchased for private and corporate collections throughout the East Coast. I have been a participating member of ECVA for ten years and have been included in many online exhibitions during that time. I am a lifelong Episcopalian and have been active in the church’s mission throughout myadult life. My daughter, Anne, is an Episcopal priest serving as Assisting Priest for Children’s Education at Church of Our Saviour, San Gabriel, CA. Her husband, Jeff, is rector at Church of Our Saviour , San Gabriel, CA.
